What We Believe
At Mount of the Lord, our faith is rooted in the Word of God. Below are the core beliefs that shape who we are and how we worship, grow, and serve together.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the foundation of all truth and the guide for Christian life and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ — His virgin birth, sinless life, miraculous works, atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. (John 1:1-14; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit, who indwells every believer and empowers them for life and service. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, and in the ongoing gifts of the Spirit for the Church today. (Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12; Acts 1:8)
Salvation
We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and that salvation — the forgiveness of sins and eternal life — is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by works but freely given to all who believe. (Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16)
The Church
We believe in the universal Church — the Body of Christ — composed of all true believers. The local church is called to worship God, preach the Gospel, make disciples, and serve the community in love. (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 1:22-23; Acts 2:42-47)
Prayer
We believe in the power of prayer. God hears and answers prayer, and we are called to pray without ceasing — in faith, in the Spirit, and in agreement with God's Word. (Philippians 4:6; James 5:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Healing
We believe in divine healing for the body, soul, and spirit — that by the stripes of Jesus we are healed. We pray for the sick and trust God for miraculous intervention in accordance with His will and Word. (Isaiah 53:5; James 5:14-15; Mark 16:18)
The Return of Christ
We believe in the imminent, personal, and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ. This blessed hope is a motivating force for holy living and faithful service. (John 14:3; Acts 1:11; Revelation 22:20)
Eternity
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost — those who are saved to the resurrection of life, and those who are lost to the resurrection of condemnation. Heaven is the eternal home of those who trust in Christ; hell is the eternal separation from God for those who reject Him. (John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:11-15)
